The North Lamar Panthers fell victim to the Liberty-Eylau Leopards''s stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were beaten by the Leopards 42-0. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for North Lamar in their matchups with Liberty-Eylau: they've now lost eight in a row.
Liberty-Eylau's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tavarious Neal, who rushed for 50 yards and a touchdown, and also picked up 56 receiving yards. Neal was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 50 yards. Jaquan Johnson was in the mix as well, providing Liberty-Eylau with two touchdowns.
North Lamar's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 5-5. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 10.7 points per game. As for Liberty-Eylau, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-6.
North Lamar does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Liberty-Eylau will face off against Carthage at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Carthage is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
