The Zane Trace Pioneers had to endure a 13-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They took down Paint Valley 52-38 on Tuesday. For Zane Trace, this counts as revenge for the 36-31 loss Paint Valley walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2023.
Zane Trace can attribute much of their success to Chloe Heshiser, who scored 17 points along with five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Heshiser has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Aubree Thomas, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds.
Despite the loss, Paint Valley saw an underclassman step up: Delainey Mannion dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds.
Even though they lost, Paint Valley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Zane Trace only pulled down four offensive rebounds.
Zane Trace's win ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-13. As for Paint Valley, they dropped their record down to 2-13 with that loss, which was their seventh straight at home.
Zane Trace will take on Eastern at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Ohio (Eastern is ranked 684th, while Zane Trace is ranked 701st). As for Paint Valley, they will head out on the road to take on Southeastern at 12:15 p.m. on Saturday. Southeastern is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
