In what's become a running theme this season, the Marionville Comets gave their fans yet another huge win on Thursday. They blew past Pleasant Hope 72-16 at home. The victory was just what Marionville needed coming off of a 75-50 loss in their prior contest.
Leading Marionville to victory were Anna Bright and Lucy Newberry. Bright went 6 for 11 from beyond the arc en route to 20 points and 1 assist, while Newberry scored 26 points along with five assists and five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Bright has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Dally Pomeroy, who scored six points along with two steals.
Marionville's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-4. As for Pleasant Hope, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-12.
Marionville won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Pleasant Hope at 5:30 p.m. on January 26th. Pleasant Hope will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Missouri Rankings (they are ranked 439th, while Marionville is ranked 190th). Hopefully Marionville focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Thursday.
