Daphne will face off against Hazel Green at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Daphne took a loss when they played away from home on Saturday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 10-4 margin over West Florida. The victory continues a trend for the Trojans in their matchups with the Jaguars: they've now won nine in a row.
Campbell Hicks looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
On the hitting side, Claire Senese was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2025. Abby J Johnson was another key player, going 1-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one run.
Meanwhile, while Hazel Green put up plenty of runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Columbia. The Trojans blew past the Eagles 25-0. With that win, the Trojans brought their scoring average up to 7.1 runs per game.
Mckenna Forrester and MacKenzie Thomas were major factors no matter where they played. Throwing, Forrester pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Thomas pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. At the plate, Forrester went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and two RBI, while Thomas went 1-for-2 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Thomas is also on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played.
In other batting news, Khloe Hunter and Bella Jackson did most of the damage at the plate: Hunter went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Jackson got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, one double, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that Hunter has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Raegan White, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Hazel Green was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .636. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .364 or higher in three consecutive games.
Hazel Green's victory bumped their record up to 9-6. As for Daphne, their win bumped their record up to 12-2.
Monday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Daphne has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .483. However, it's not like Hazel Green struggles in that department as they've averaged .479. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Daphne couldn't quite finish off Hazel Green in their previous matchup back in May of 2017 and fell 4-2. Can Daphne avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
