The Austintown-Fitch Falcons scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They walked away with a 73-64 victory over Ursuline. The victory was all the more spectacular given Austintown-Fitch's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 129th, while the Fighting Irish are ranked 20th).
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Austintown-Fitch to victory, but perhaps none more so than Deshawn Vaughn, who scored 26 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Vaughn has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Alex Hill, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.
Austintown-Fitch pushed their record up to 10-6 with that win, which was their third straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.7 points per game. As for Ursuline, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Austintown-Fitch will take on the Golden Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. That contest will pit two of the most dominant guards against one another: Ja'Corey Lipkins and Marcel Finkley. As for Ursuline, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against the Raiders at 7:30 p.m. on February 3rd. South Range is coming into the game hot, having won their last six games.
