Northwestern Area and St. Mary squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Northwestern Area had to settle for second. They took a 34-29 hit to the loss column at the hands of the St. Mary Cardinals. The Wildcats' defeat signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

Northwestern Area's loss dropped their record down to 18-6. As for St. Mary, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 17-6.

Northwestern Area does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for St. Mary, they will square off against Harding County at 6:00 p.m. on March 13th. One thing working in Harding County's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five contests.
