Section 3 Class B - West recap Sept. 26, 2012
Homer moved up to 197 from 317 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Section 3 Class B - West. The Trojans were able to make the jump by beating the Trojans 42-0.
Chittenango extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Homer, 42-0. The win marks fourth in a row for the the Bears.
Gary Podsiedlik's team's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Casey Cleary threw for 75 yards and Sean Ferrito had 28 yards receiving. On the ground Jimmy Durkee chipped in 42 yards. Payten Boice helped Homer's passing attack out by catching two balls for 19 yards.
Homer's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Trojans feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Cleary has thrown for 148 yards this season, while Boice has five catches for 63 yards. Mark Dove leads the league in rushing with 331 yards.
A big matchup in Section 3 Class B - West this week will be when Westhill takes on Chittenango. The Warriors are in third place, while Jack Hayes's team is in first place.
The Trojans made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 6,741 from 9,410. The improvement came about via a 42-0 victory over Homer last week.
