Richland is 2-8 against Central Cambria since April of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Rams will head out to take on the Red Devils at 5:00 p.m. Richland is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.1 runs per game this season.
On Thursday, Richland didn't have quite enough to beat Bellwood-Antis and fell 8-7.
Sophie Burke was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in all six of her plate appearances with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Addy Matejovich, who went 3-for-6 with two runs.
Meanwhile, Central Cambria entered their tilt with Huntingdon on Monday with five consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with six. They came out on top against the Bearcats by a score of 7-4.
Rowyn Ruddek spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on six hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Aubrey Ruddek was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024. Kathryn Scott also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.
Central Cambria's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-3. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Richland, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-7.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Richland hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .326. However, it's not like Central Cambria struggles in that department as they've averaged .337. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Richland might still be hurting after the 10-0 loss they got from Central Cambria when the teams last played back in May of 2024. Can the Rams avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
