The Rockmart Yellowjackets put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. It was close, but they ultimately received the gift of a 70-68 win from a begrudging Yellowjacketssquad. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Rockmart had a senior duo take command as Treylin Davis dropped a double-double on 26 points and 16 rebounds and Samuel Johnson scored 25 points. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Davis has scored at least 25% of Rockmart's points. Another player making a difference was Hunter Atkins, who scored seven points.
Rockmart pushed their record up to 7-0 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Murray County, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rockmart won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Chattooga at 2:30 p.m. on December 16th. Chattooga will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 365th, while Rockmart is ranked 67th). Murray County won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe at 7:30 p.m. on December 16th. Hopefully Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Friday.
