Softball Recap: Parma's Winning Streak Snapped at 15 Games

Parma dropped their record down to 22-3 on Thursday, which also ended the team's 15-game streak of wins. They took a 9-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Nampa Christian Trojans. The Panthers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Trojans earlier this season, when they won 6-4.

Wesli Crockett spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and seven unearned) runs on eight hits.

At the plate, Lakota Leppert made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kinlea Cole, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one double.

As for Nampa Christian, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 16-4. The game was the first time they have beaten Parma on their field since March 9, 2023.

On Nampa Christian's side, Peyton Shook made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out 14 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits (and not a single walk). Shook was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Macy Boothby, who went 2-for-4 with one home run. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024. Ashlynn Swank was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Coming up, Parma will face off against Melba at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Mustangs have averaged an impressive 8.7 runs per game this season. Nampa Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
