The Northeast Kansas Nighthawks HomeSchool Nighthawks entered their tilt with the Cornerstone Family Saints with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Northeast Kansas Nighthawks HomeSchool strolled past Cornerstone Family with points to spare on Tuesday, taking the game 46-30. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Northeast Kansas Nighthawks HomeSchool also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2023.
Leading Northeast Kansas Nighthawks HomeSchool to victory were Laurel Schwensen and Sami Baum. Schwensen scored 12 points, while Baum scored 13 points. Another player making a difference was Amy Holloway, who scored eight points.
Cornerstone Family's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Kaylee Heinen, who scored 19 points, and Lana Smittick who scored six points along with 13 rebounds and two blocks. That was a full 63.3% of Cornerstone Family's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Northeast Kansas Nighthawks HomeSchool's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-5. As for Cornerstone Family, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 10-7.
Northeast Kansas Nighthawks HomeSchool will take on Veritas Christian at TBD on Tuesday. Hopefully Northeast Kansas Nighthawks HomeSchool is not getting complacent considering they own a much higher rank in Kansas (they are ranked 116th, while Veritas Christian is ranked 301st). As for Cornerstone Family, they will head out on the road to take on Burlingame at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Burlingame will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Cornerstone Family surely won't give up without a fight.
