The Morro Bay Pirates lost against the Cabrillo Conquistadores back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Morro Bay took a 52-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of Cabrillo. Morro Bay has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
When it comes to explaining why Morro Bay lost, one person who can't be blamed is Justin Campbell. Despite the final result, he scored 22 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sergio Mendoza, who scored seven points along with four steals.
Morro Bay has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-10 record this season. As for Cabrillo, the victory got them back to even at 7-7.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Orcutt Academy the next time they take the court. Morro Bay will head out to face Orcutt Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, while Cabrillo will host them at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
