The Avery County Vikings will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the McDowell Titans at 6:30 p.m. Hopefully Avery County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Friday.

Despite the loss, Avery County saw an underclassman step up: Caroline Hollifield scored 18 points along with 5 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Reagan Greer, who scored 9 points along with 7 rebounds.
McDowell has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three contests by 38 points or more this season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Thursday as they easily beat R-S Central 68-30 on the road. The victory made it back-to-back wins for McDowell.
McDowell found their leader in underclassman Clara McCartha, who scored 17 points. Another player making a difference was Sage Young, who scored 11 points.
Their wins bumped Avery County to 3-3 and Erwin to 3-2.
Keep an eye on the arc in Tuesday's matchup: Avery County have been dynamite from deep this season, having only drained 32.7% of their threes per game. It's a different story for McDowell, though, as they've only made 0% of theirs this season. Given Avery County's sizeable advantage in that area, McDowell will need to find a way to close that gap.
