Gabrielle Wright spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Stacia Cowan, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.
West Lincoln hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are 8-2 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Meanwhile, in Wednesday's Canine Competition, Lincolnton didn't have enough. They took a 10-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of Burns last Wednesday. The Wolves have struggled against the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.
Lincolnton saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tanlee Eley, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Bailey Hollar was another, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
Lincolnton's loss dropped their record down to 6-13. As for West Lincoln, their win bumped their record up to 13-8.
Lincolnton's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. West Lincoln has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.7 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Lincolnton, though, as they've been averaging only 2.7 strikeouts. Will West Lincoln keep running through batters, or will the Wolves buck the trend?
West Lincoln took their victory against Lincolnton when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 12-1 score. Will the Rebels repeat their success, or do the Wolves have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
