Central Arkansas Christian moved up to 62 from 94 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 4A Region 7. The Mustangs climbed the ranks as a result of topping Bauxite 63-46.
Malvern extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Arkansas Baptist, 47-14. The victory was the seventh in a row for the Leopards.
Nashville's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Joel Hendry threw for 154 and two touchdowns and TeSean Green had 66 yards receiving. On the ground Jakaree Gaines chipped in 110 yards. Donyell King helped Nashville's passing attack out by catching three balls for 42 yards.
Starnes York made the biggest impact on defense this week as Ashdown lost to the Scrappers. The 6-foot-0 sophomore racked up two sacks.
Jake Alexander provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Panthers fell to Nashville. He completed 14 passes for 129 yards and one touchdown and also ran for 39 yards. Alexander's favorite target this week was Devaughn Sanders, who caught four passes for 66 yards.
Thanks to the talents of Hendry and Gaines the Scrappers have been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Hendry leads the league in passing with 1992 yards, while Gaines has rushed for 726 yards this season. The Eagles' Dakota Newkirk leads the league in receiving yards with 796 on 43 catches.
Arkansas Baptist's Riley Perkins is within 180 passing yards of surpassing 2,000 on the season coming into this week's game against the Miners. Accruing a total of 14 touchdowns this year, Perkins has thrown for 1820 yards with 12 interceptions.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Malvern takes on Central Arkansas Christian. John Fogleman's team is in first place, while the Mustangs are in fourth place.
