The New Richmond Lions pushed their score all the way to 57 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 68-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of Western Brown. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for New Richmond in their matchups with Western Brown: they've now lost six in a row.
Several Lions players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Luke Wolf, who scored 16 points along with nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Rylan Utter, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Even though they lost, New Richmond smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
New Richmond has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-8 record this season. As for Western Brown, their victory bumped their record up to 4-8.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. New Richmond will take on Purcell Marian at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Purcell Marian's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five contests. As for Western Brown, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Jackson at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Jackson presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Western Brown in Ohio (Jackson is ranked 254th, while Western Brown is ranked 518th).
