The Chesterton Trojans and the McCutcheon Mavericks will round out the year against one another at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday at. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Friday, Chesterton got the win against Lake Station Edison by a conclusive 72-50.
Chesterton relied on the efforts of Tenley Davis, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and 14 rebounds, and Kenedi Bradley, who scored 25 points along with five assists and three steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Bradley has scored at least 25% of Chesterton's points. Another player making a difference was Ciara Bonner, who scored nine points along with seven assists and four steals.
Meanwhile, McCutcheon had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27 points), and they went ahead and made it seven last Friday. They claimed a resounding 56-29 win over Harrison at home.
McCutcheon can attribute much of their success to Aubrey Miller, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds, and Lillie Graves, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds and five steals. The match was Graves' 12th in a row with at least ten points. Chloe Finney was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with six steals.
Chesterton has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. As for McCutcheon, their win bumped their record up to 10-2.
Wednesday's contest is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Chesterton have been dynamite from deep this season, having made 39.7% of their threes per game. However, it's not like McCutcheon struggles in that department as they've nailed 42.8% of their threes per game this season.
