Sunset extended their winning streak to four on Friday, bumping them up to 4-2. They walked away with a 9-6 victory over the Braddock Bulldogs. The Knights have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Bulldogs, too.
Rodrigo Flores got the start for Sunset and what a start it was: he didn't allow a single hit and allowed only one earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Flores also allowed no hits, which is notable because the Knights are undefeated when he allows at most two hits, but 1-2 otherwise. Diego Maldonado relieved him and did a solid job, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits.
On the hitting side, Carlos Sanchez was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That home run marked the first that he has launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Yanker Salas, who went 2-for-3 with one home run.
Sunset kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive contests.
As for Braddock, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-3 record this season. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games.
On Braddock's side, they handed starting duties to Derek Betancourt, who gave a strong showing despite the result: he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off four hits. Furthermore, Betancourt didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in March of 2025.
At the plate, Jorge Gonzalez was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs. Michael Sanchez was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run.
Sunset has already played their next matchup, a 9-2 win against Miami Beach on the 25th. As for Braddock, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 16-1 victory against Mater Lakes Academy on the 23rd.
