Southwest and Cedar Catholic squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Southwest had to settle for second. They took a blow against the Cedar Catholic Trojans, falling 54-27. The Roughriders' loss signaled the end of their 22-game winning streak.

Atleigh Nelms and Anastasia Gallegos certainly did their best on Wednesday to avoid the loss. Nelms posted six points, while Gallegos put up four points. Nelms has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. Anikka Nelms also deserves some recognition as she grabbed her first steal of the season.

Cedar Catholic can attribute much of their success to Katelyn Arens, who shot 57% from the field en route to 17 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals. Thanks to that strong game, Arens now owns an excellent 45% field goal percentage. Savannah Pick was another key player, putting up ten points.

Southwest's defeat dropped their record down to 23-2. As for Cedar Catholic, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 16-11.

Southwest does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Cedar Catholic, they have already played their next contest, a 54-49 loss against Elm Creek on the 7th.
