The Wellington-Napoleon Tigers had to hit the road for their first game and sadly it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They lost to Lawson on the road by a decisive 59-45 margin on Tuesday. Wellington-Napoleon has not had much luck with Lawson recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Wellington-Napoleon's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Trotter Hughes, who scored 11 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Haden Terrill, who scored 12 points along with 5 blocks.
Lawson got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Isaac Willoughby out in front who scored 21 points along with 6 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which Willoughby has scored at least 25% of Lawson's points. Another player making a difference was Brogan Crawford, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 15 rebounds.
Wellington-Napoleon's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Lawson, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
Wellington-Napoleon will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Odessa at 7:00 p.m. As for Lawson, they will square off against East Buchanan at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
