Basketball Game Preview: Westminster Academy Lions vs. Northeast Hurricanes

The Westminster Academy Lions will head out to challenge the Northeast Hurricanes at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Westminster Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven contests -- so hopefully Northeast likes a good challenge.

Westminster Academy is headed into the match after thoroughly thrashing Stranahan: they outscored them in every quarter. Westminster Academy strolled past Stranahan with points to spare on Monday, taking the game 79-65.

Alex Constanza and Alexander Lloyd were among the main playmakers for Westminster Academy as the former dropped a double-double on 27 points and 12 rebounds and the latter went 7 for 13 en route to 24 points. The game was Constanza's 14th in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Brandon Sharpe, who posted eight points and six boards.

Meanwhile, Northeast was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were beaten by Coral Springs 70-39. While losing is never fun, the Hurricanes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 363rd, while the Colts are ranked 62nd).

Westminster Academy has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 77.2 points per game. As for Northeast, their loss dropped their record down to 3-13.

Westminster Academy took their victory against Northeast in their previous meeting back in January of 2024 by a conclusive 83-58. The rematch might be a little tougher for Westminster Academy since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
