Even though the Alemany Warriors scored an imposing 58 points on Friday, the Crespi Celts still came out on top. Crespi sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 61-58 victory over Alemany. Given Crespi's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 26th, while Alemany is ranked 221st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Crespi's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Joe Sterling, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Drew Fisher, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds.
Crespi is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which somehow isn't as good as their 21-6 record this season. As for Alemany, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-14 record this season.
Crespi does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Alemany will head out on the road to square off against Loyola at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
