For the first time this season, Anderson will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will host the Richmond Red Devils at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Anderson has given up an average of 7.7 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Anderson couldn't beat Alexandria-Monroe on Friday even though they stacked four runs on them in the sixth inning. The Indians fell 11-7 to the Tigers. That's two games in a row now that the Indians have lost by exactly four runs.
Kadyn Kendall was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double. Steven Reyes was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one run and one double.
Meanwhile, Richmond waltzed into their match on Wednesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They never let the Bearcats get on the board and left with a 10-0 win. That looming 10-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Red Devils yet this season.
Malachi Moore and Jayvian Burdette did most of the damage at the plate: Moore went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double, while Burdette went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those hits marked the first that Moore has got this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Cordae McKinley, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run and one double.
Richmond's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Anderson, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-4.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Anderson has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Richmond struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.6 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Anderson might still be hurting after the 13-2 loss they got from Richmond in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Indians avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
