Softball Recap: Pasco Wins Going Away Against Central

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Sunlake, Pasco was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They blew past the Central Bears 18-0. Considering the Pirates have won four matchups by more than ten runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Abi Grubbs made a big impact no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). Grubbs was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two doubles. That home run was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Shelby Stevanus and Morgan Montelongo did most of the damage at the plate: Stevanus went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three doubles, and one run, while Montelongo went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those doubles marked the first that Stevanus has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Kassidy Washington, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

Pasco now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Central, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.

Pasco will venture away from home to square off against Wiregrass Ranch at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulls' pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so the Pirates' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Central, they have already played their next contest, a 17-0 defeat against Nature Coast Tech on the 13th.
