Randolph-Henry is 1-7 against Appomattox County since March of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Statesmen will face off against the Raiders at 5:30 p.m. Randolph-Henry is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.
While Randolph-Henry's win against Amelia County wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Statesmen skirted past the Raiders 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Statesmen have posted since June 4, 2024.

Kendall Snead spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on five hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Hadleigh Duffer was excellent, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base. That stolen base was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Glenna Vereen, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Appomattox County got themselves on the board against William Campbell on Wednesday, but William Campbell never followed suit. They came out on top against the Generals by a score of 5-0. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Raiders.
Appomattox County also got a great performance from Chloe Vaughan as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over six innings pitched.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Karly Jenkins, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Regan Sheilds was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.
Randolph-Henry's record now sits at 3-6. As for Appomattox County, their record is now 9-3.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Thursday. Randolph-Henry hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.7 home runs per game. However, it's not like Appomattox County struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.6 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Randolph-Henry couldn't quite finish off Appomattox County when the teams last played back in March and fell 6-4. Can the Statesmen avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
