After flying high against the Glenn Bobcats last Wednesday, the Davie War Eagles came back down to earth. Davie fell to R.J. Reynolds 48-43. Davie was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as R.J. Reynolds apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Despite the defeat, Davie saw an underclassman step up: Madison Daugherty scored 18 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Daugherty has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Bailey Aderhold, who scored six points.
R.J. Reynolds had a senior duo take command as Elliott Jessup scored 15 points along with five assists and five rebounds and Destiny Thompson scored 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Shyla Simms, who scored five points.
Davie's loss dropped their record down to 9-7. As for R.J. Reynolds, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 10-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Davie will take on West Forsyth at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. West Forsyth is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for R.J. Reynolds, they will be playing at home against Mount Tabor at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
