Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Nevaeh Jimenez, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. She is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last six games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Brianna Orona, who posted six points and nine rebounds.
Meanwhile, University put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They really took it to Weld Central for the full four quarters, racking up a 52-20 victory. The Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 28 points or more this season.
University's win came from a few key players Valley will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Allizzey Madrigal, who put up nine points in addition to six steals and five boards. Janay Kravig was another key player, putting up eight points and three steals.
University smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in ten consecutive matches.
Valley's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-6. As for University, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-0.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Valley has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 32 rebounds per game. However, it's not like University struggles in that department as they've been averaging 29 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Valley was dealt a bruising 54-23 loss at the hands of University in their previous meeting back in January. That game was all but decided by halftime, at which point Valley was down 32-12.
