It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Velma Jackson Falcons had no problem doing just that on Friday. They breezed by East Marion at home to the tune of 39-0. The victory was just business as usual for Velma Jackson, who after ten games remain undefeated this season.
Terrelle Smith was the offensive standout of the match as he threw for 252 yards and three touchdowns on only 17 passes. Ken Young also helped out with an impressive 96 receiving yards.
Another reason for the win was Velma Jackson's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for five sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Anthony Walker and Tyshun Willis who racked up five sacks between them.
Velma Jackson pushed their record up to 11-0 with that victory, which was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 47.1 points. As for East Marion, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-8.
Velma Jackson will look to defend their home field on Friday against South Delta at 7:00 p.m. South Delta is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games. East Marion does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
