The Immanuel Christian Warriors's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their 11th straight loss. They were dealt a 60-32 defeat at the hands of Fredericksburg Christian. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Immanuel Christian has suffered since November 30, 2023.
Fredericksburg Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Layna Thomas led the charge by scoring 16 points along with seven steals and six assists. Thomas is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Thomas, who scored 11 points along with six steals and five rebounds.
Immanuel Christian dropped their record down to 1-11 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight at home. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 23.5 points per game. As for Fredericksburg Christian, their win ended a eight-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Immanuel Christian will challenge Trinity at Meadow View at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Fredericksburg Christian won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Chelsea Academy at 4:30 p.m. on January 26th. Chelsea Academy is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
