Softball Recap: Tolono Unity Has No Trouble Against St. Thomas More

After only one run in their last game, Tolono Unity made sure to put some runs up on the board against St. Thomas More on Monday. The Rockets were the clear victors by a 17-0 margin over the Sabers. The Rockets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 matchups by eight runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Grace Bickers, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Lindy Bates also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Tolono Unity always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .700. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The win made it two in a row for Tolono Unity and bumps their season record up to 21-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.5 runs over those games. As for St. Thomas More, they are on a 12-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 0-12.

Coming up, Tolono Unity will welcome Mt. Zion at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for St. Thomas More, they will square off against Hoopeston at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Sabers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cornjerkers have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season.
