The Garfield-Palouse Vikings will head out on the road to challenge the Pomeroy Pirates at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Pomeroy took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Garfield-Palouse, who comes in off a win.
Last Saturday, Garfield-Palouse strolled past Yakama Nation Tribal with points to spare, taking the game 54-40.
Meanwhile, Pomeroy unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell 49-38 to DeSales. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Pomeroy in their matchups with DeSales: they've now lost eight in a row.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Oliver Severs, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Trace Roberts, who scored eight points along with 12 rebounds.
Garfield-Palouse's victory bumped their record up to 14-7. As for Pomeroy, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-4.
Garfield-Palouse might still be hurting after the 53-31 loss they got from Pomeroy when the teams last played back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Pomeroy's Jett Slusser, who scored 21 points along with eight assists. Now that Garfield-Palouse knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
