Union has enjoyed a four-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Daleville Broncos at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Union will be strutting in after a victory while Daleville will be coming in after a loss.
Last Saturday, Union beat Seven Oaks Classical 41-28. The win was just what Union needed coming off of a 72-39 loss in their prior match.
Union found their leader in underclassman Lamar Schwartz, who dropped a triple-double on 18 points, ten rebounds, and ten steals. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Schwartz has scored at least a third of Union's points. Another player making a difference was Noah Schmucker, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Daleville suffered their biggest defeat since November 28, 2023 on Tuesday. They suffered a tough 70-46 loss at the hands of Anderson. While losing is never fun, Daleville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 222nd, while Anderson is ranked 20th).
Union's win ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 2-10. As for Daleville, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-6.
Union was dealt a bruising 72-13 defeat at the hands of Daleville when the teams last played back in January of 2023. Can Union avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
