Baseball Game Preview: Torrance Tartars vs. Warren Bears

The Torrance Tartars will challenge the Warren Bears at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with five defeats in a row, Torrance turned things around against South on Wednesday. They put the hurt on the Spartans with a sharp 10-2 win. That eight run margin sets a new team best for the Tartars this season.

Sam Cruz tossed a big game, tossing six innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Noriyoshi Mori was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Mateo Rickman was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.

Torrance kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Meanwhile, while Warren put up some runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Lakewood. The Bears skirted past the Lancers 1-0. Those one runs were actually the fewest the Bears have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

Torrance's victory bumped their record up to 10-8. As for Warren, with the win, they broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 11-7.
