The Parkview Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their sixth straight loss. The match between them and Newton wasn't particularly close, with Parkview falling 43-25. While losing is never fun, Parkview can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 166th, while Newton is ranked 49th).
Parkview's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Aziza Smith, who scored four points. The team also got some help courtesy of Corrin Sevier, who scored two points along with five steals.
Parkview has not been sharp recently as the team's lost seven of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-14 record this season. As for Newton, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-9.
Parkview does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Newton, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Grayson at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Grayson's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
