Baseball Recap: Taunton Has No Trouble Against Franklin

Taunton had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the eight-run drubbing they dealt Franklin on Monday. The Tigers were the clear victors by an 11-3 margin over the Panthers. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won eight matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Johnny Escobalez made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April.

In other batting news, Cam Dorr was a standout: he went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI and two doubles. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Joseph Benoit was another key player, going 4-for-5 with three RBI and one run.

Taunton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .394. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .394 or higher in four consecutive games.

Taunton is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-3 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.8 runs over those games. As for Franklin, their loss dropped their record down to 7-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Taunton will take on Sharon at 4:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The Tigers are facing the Eagles at the right time seeing as the Eagles are stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Franklin, they will face off against Attleboro at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
