After flying high against the Manila Mustangs on Friday, the Wendover Wildcats came back down to earth. The contest between Wendover and Rich wasn't particularly close, with Wendover falling 40-24. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Wendover in their matchups with Rich: they've now lost eight in a row.
Despite the loss, Wendover saw an underclassman step up: Millie Hicks scored ten points along with six steals and five rebounds. Hicks has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last ten times she's played. Paulina Gomez was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with two steals.
Wendover's defeat dropped their record down to 11-4. As for Rich, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-4.
Wendover and Wells will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in their respective states (Wells is ranked 67th in Nevada, while Wendover is ranked 54th in Utah). As for Rich, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Big Piney at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
