Basketball Recap: Faith Christian Academy Takes a Loss

On Friday, Faith Christian Academy were within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 56-52 to the Trinity Prep Lions. While Faith Christian Academy didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating Trinity Prep 18-14 in the first quarter.

Despite the loss, Faith Christian Academy still got an impressive performance from Haven Brannen, who posted 26 points. The matchup was Brannen's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was David Grubb, who had 13 points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Trinity Prep to victory, but perhaps none more so than Gerald Layne, who went 7 of 14 on his way to 17 points in addition to six steals and five boards. Layne has been hot recently, having posted 17 or more points the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of David Kedar, who went 6 of 12 on his way to 16 points.

Faith Christian Academy's loss was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Trinity Prep, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Faith Christian Academy will host Providence Classical Christian at 6:30 p.m. on December 20th. Trinity Prep will take on HALO in a holiday battle at at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
