The Benson Bunnies pushed their score all the way to 59 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 65-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of Bellevue East. Benson has struggled against Bellevue East recently, as their contest on Saturday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
Several Bunnies players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Ahmani Klabunde, who scored 18 points along with five assists and four steals. Jesani Green was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Bellevue East to victory, but perhaps none more so than TNiyah Wilson-Smith, who scored 25 points along with two steals. Wilson-Smith is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Mya Weber, who scored 12 points.
Benson's defeat dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Bellevue East, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-5.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Burke the next time they take the court. Bellevue East will head out to face Burke at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, while Benson will head out to face them at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
