The Columbus Titans will face off against the Field Kindley Golden Tornado at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.
Field Kindley will take on a team with plenty of momentum: Columbus extended their winning streak to three on Tuesday. The Titans were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over Southeast.
Columbus got a big performance out of Syler Schuberger, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Jace Midgett, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Field Kindley won against Cherryvale on Tuesday with 13 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Golden Tornado beat the Chargers by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 13-3. Considering the Golden Tornado have won three contests by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Ryley Robson made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Robson was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-2. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season.
In other batting news, Bennett Thompson was excellent, scoring three runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Brody Foster was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Field Kindley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.
Columbus pushed their record up to 3-0 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 8.7 runs this season. As for Field Kindley, their win bumped their record up to 3-1.
Columbus was able to grind out a solid victory over Field Kindley in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, winning 7-2. Do the Titans have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Golden Tornado turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
