The Aquinas Blugolds came tearing into Thursday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They took down La Crosse Central 63-48. Given Aquinas' advantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 33rd, while La Crosse Central is ranked 243rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Aquinas' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Emma Dobbins, who scored 11 points along with nine rebounds. Samantha Davis was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with seven rebounds.
Aquinas' victory bumped their record up to 15-3. As for La Crosse Central, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-12.
Aquinas will look to defend their home court on Monday against Assumption at 6:45 p.m. Assumption is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling. As for La Crosse Central, they will head out on the road to challenge Holmen at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. The timing is sure in Holmen's favor as the team sits on four straight wins at home while La Crosse Central has been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road.
