The Westwood Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their sixth straight loss. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 37-36 to Teague. While losing is never fun, Westwood can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1031st, while Teague is ranked 437th).
Bethanah Owens continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Teague, dropping a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds. Owens hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for 11 straight games.
Westwood has not been sharp recently, as they've lost nine of their last 12 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-18 record this season. As for Teague, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 15-12.
Westwood will head out on the road to face off against Mexia at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Teague, they will be playing at home against Buffalo at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Buffalo is hoping to put an end to a seven-game streak of away losses.
