Malvern had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They skirted past the Westside Warriors 3-2. Winning may never get old, but the Leopards sure are getting used to it with their eighth in a row.
Kendall Watson made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Takayla Stewart, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
Malvern's record now sits at 21-5. As for Westside, their loss dropped their record down to 20-8.
Looking ahead, Malvern will challenge Pea Ridge on Friday. The Blackhawks' pitching crew has only allowed 1.6 runs per game this season, so the Leopards' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Westside does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
