The Orland Trojans will venture away from home to challenge the Gridley Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Orland is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Central Valley 3-1. The Trojans haven't had any issues with the Falcons recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Kiera McKenzie spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up 13 Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jaycee Eden, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one triple. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Gracie Cutshall was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, Gridley posted their closest win since March 20, 2024 on Tuesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 7-5 victory over Orland. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Kaydenze Pruitt was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up five earned runs off seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two triples, and three runs.
In other batting news, Delanie Cloyd was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.
Gridley has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.9 runs over those games. As for Orland, their record now sits at 14-7.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Orland hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .331. However, it's not like Gridley struggles in that department as they've averaged .462. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Orland couldn't quite finish off Gridley in their previous matchup on Tuesday and fell 7-5. Can the Trojans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
