After two games on the road, Oak Grove is heading back home. They will take on the Montgomery Central Timberwolves at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Friday, Oak Grove ended up a good deal behind Central Davidson and lost 59-45. While losing is never fun, Oak Grove can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 245th, while Central Davidson is ranked 61st).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from JB Shabazz, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds. He has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last ten times he's played. Another player making a difference was Tristan Nunez, who scored seven points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Montgomery Central's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They were beaten by Asheboro 78-35. Montgomery Central has not had much luck with Asheboro recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Oak Grove has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-9 record this season. As for Montgomery Central, they bumped their record down to 2-10 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home.
Everything came up roses for Oak Grove against Montgomery Central when the teams last played back in February of 2023 as the squad secured a 92-57 win. With Oak Grove ahead 46-23 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
