The York Cougars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their eighth straight loss. They fell 61-52 to York Prep. York was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as York Prep apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Despite the loss, York still got an impressive performance from Bryson Steele, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 14 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jackson Rampey, who scored 11 points.
York dropped their record down to 5-12 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for York Prep, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-8.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. York will take on Indian Land at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. Indian Land presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than York in South Carolina (Indian Land is ranked 21st, while York is ranked 189th). As for York Prep, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Andrew Jackson at 8:00 p.m. Andrew Jackson will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.
