The Castle Knights will square off against the Center Grove Trojans at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams are coming into the matchup red-hot, with Castle sitting on three straight wins and Center Grove on seven.
Castle is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Seymour 5-4.
Lily Greenwell was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. Maddie Rose was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run.
They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Castle lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April.
Meanwhile, Center Grove faced Brownsburg in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Trojans put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 12-2 win. The Trojans might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 17 contests by six runs or more this season.
Kara Biever looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Center Grove got a massive performance out of Taylor Barrett, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Addison Wolff also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Castle's record is now 23-6-1. As for Center Grove, their record now sits at 22-6.
Saturday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Castle hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .379. However, it's not like Center Grove struggles in that department as they've averaged .490. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
