A feisty cat fight will be fought as Krum Bobcats face off against Jacksboro Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Krum is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.8 runs per game this season.
Krum's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Tuesday's struggle, when Bridgeport hitters got past them. Krum walked away with a 16-11 victory over Bridgeport on Tuesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bobcats.
Addyson Zimmerman and Taylor Fauver did most of the damage at the plate: Zimmerman went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run, while Fauver scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-5. That's the most RBI Zimmerman has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Paige Bianchi, who went 1-for-5 with four RBI and one double.
They weren't the only ones working in the hit department: Krum kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Jacksboro entered their tilt with Bowie on Saturday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They put the hurt on the Jackrabbits with a sharp 9-2 win. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by seven runs or more this season.
Brooke Reaves spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Brailyn Tullous was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. She also put up a home run, which was her first of the season. Rylee Bennett was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.
Krum's record is now 16-2. As for Jacksboro, their record now sits at 14-8-1.
Friday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Krum has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .480. However, it's not like Jacksboro struggles in that department as they've averaged .450. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Krum beat Jacksboro 5-1 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Krum since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
