Leavitt is preparing for their first region matchup of the season on Wednesday. They will head out on the road to face off against the Gardiner Tigers at 4:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Leavitt had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Cape Elizabeth on Friday. The Hornets were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Capers.

Hailey Turcotte was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (five). She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gabby Smith, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those five hits gave her a new career-high. Jordyn Boulay was another key player, going 2-for-5 with one run and one RBI.
Leavitt was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cape Elizabeth only posted a batting average of .259.
Meanwhile, Gardiner took care of business in their home opener on Monday. They walked away with a 15-11 win over Erskine Academy.
BRYNLEA CHAISSON was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was ZOEY SULLIVAN-BRENNAN, who got on base in three of her five plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Leavitt might still be hurting after the 14-3 defeat they got from Gardiner in their previous meeting back in June of 2024. Can the Hornets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
