The Huntsville Panthers will look to defend their home field on Thursday against the Hazel Green Trojans at 7:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Last Friday, Huntsville had to suffer through a rough 52-25 loss at the hands of Austin. While losing is never fun, Huntsville can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama football rankings (they are ranked 88th, while Austin is ranked 25th).
Huntsville's defeat came about despite a quality game from Jacks Mcclung, who threw for 272 yards and three touchdowns while completing 72.5% of his passes, and also rushed for 84 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries. The team also got some help courtesy of Lawson Neighbors, who picked up 79 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Hazel Green, who are still winless after their ninth contest. They were outmatched by Arab at home and fell 42-7. Hazel Green was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-7.
Huntsville now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Hazel Green, their loss was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 0-9.
Everything came up roses for Huntsville against Hazel Green in their previous matchup back in October of 2022 as the team secured a 63-7 win. Does Huntsville have another victory up their sleeve, or will Hazel Green turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
