After flying high against the Banff Bears last Monday, Cornerstone Christian Academy came back down to earth. Cornerstone Christian Academy took a 57-44 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tigers on Tuesday. Cornerstone Christian Academy has struggled against the Tigers recently, as their match on Tuesday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Cornerstone Christian Academy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Seth Younts, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. Younts hasn't dropped below 15 points for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Shayne Cox, who scored 13 points along with two steals.
Even though they lost, Cornerstone Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Texas Christian only pulled down four offensive rebounds.
Texas Christian got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Daniel Williams out in front who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. Williams is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down nine or more in the last nine games he's played. Brecken Pelzel was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds.
Cornerstone Christian Academy has not been sharp recently as the team's lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season. As for Texas Christian, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-10.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing The Connection School of Houston the next time they take the court. Texas Christian will host The Connection School of Houston at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, while Cornerstone Christian Academy will head out to face them at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
